Perspective & Acknowledgment

  • When you set foot on land in Australia (or indeed swim in her surrounding seas), you are visiting an ancient land cared for by thousands of generations of indigenous ancestors whose progeny still practice culture across contemporary Australian urban, regional, desert and rainforest landscapes. Acknowledgment is important.

  • Across the millennia, when Aboriginal peoples sought to cross their homeland borders into neighboring lands, they sent a message stick seeking permission, guidance and safe passage of their spiritual beings to the adjacent tribes. And they were welcomed to Country.

“When travelling through someone else’s Country . . . I’m always thinking about their spirits, their particular language spirits, and I have to learn to adjust to adapt to the protocol of that land.”

  • Two Worlds Australia acknowledges the multiple nations represented by the first peoples occupying the lands of Richmond, Virginia, from which we operate:

The Pamunkey, Nottoway, Mattaponi, Upper Mattaponi, and Nansemond Indian Nations.

We also acknowledge and pay respect to all First Nations people of Australia, and their sovereignty and wisdom which we endeavor to help share with a US audience.
